Our next paint out will be in the very special gardens belonging to Lisa Townsend on Bloomington’s west side. Lisa is excited to see us on Tuesday, August 12 from 9:30-1pm at 4417 Tanglewood Rd., Ellettsville.

Lisa has several garden areas that are shade or part shade. Remember to bring your bug repellant, sunscreen, water bottle etc. Restrooms in the house are available for us. Parking is available in the driveway and along the road. Lisa says you may stay later if desired.

From Bloomington, take Hwy 46 west to Ellettsville. Turn right at the light on N. Union Valley Rd. Turn right on Tanglewood Rd. The house is on the right in the first big curve. I will have our signs out so watch for those. Keep your fingers crossed for some nice weather that day.

From Kitty Garlock: You may have heard of Bonnie Gordon-Lucas as she is an artist in her own right.  She has invited us to her home to share her garden and the sweet little house (very colorful) in which she abides. Bonnie’s entire front front yard is garden so finding a place to set up might be a challenge but she has shade trees, and a canvas covered deck and lots of shade on the edges with quite a view of her home from across the street.

Starting time 9:00 (being a private home we request you come no earlier) until 12:00

She lives at 3375 N. Russell Rd, Bloomington for your GPSs and you can find her on Google maps under My Bonnie Designs where you will also see that Russell Rd leaves Rt 45 then comes back to 45 going to and from Unionville, so you may want to decide which entrance you want to take. 

Parking will be in the driveways across the street so we will have a one way system set up so that no one will be blocking the way out when you want to leave. Carpooling is strongly suggested.

Lunch would be best served with a “brown bag” but those who want may decide to go into town together as it is not far from the mall area.

Signs will be at both entrances to Russell Rd and at the driveway where we need people to park.

Weather right now looks doable.  They say the rain won’t interfere until after 2:00 but mostly sunny and going early we will beat the high temperatures in the 80s.

Bonnie is looking forward to sharing the morning with us as she really wants to paint with our group too!! 

You are invited to a paint-out for all those who would like to participate in conjunction with Upland Plein Air at the Monroe County Fairgrounds, 5700 W Airport Rd, Bloomington, IN 47403  on Tuesday July 1st. 9AM-1:00!  Come out and enjoy the Fair, and paint with us,  eat at one of the many food stands some are open early but most by 11:00 AM. A chance to meet new friends. I will be at the West Gate entry Tuesday morning from 8:45 to 9:30 or so to answer any questions or for directions, etc.

Owen Valley Winery: 491 Timber Ridge Rd, Spencer 47460

Join Marcy LaMaster and Kathy Barton at Owen Valley Winery on Wednesday, June 25, from 1-4 pm at Owen Valley Winery, outside of Spencer. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Bloomington. It is in the Indiana Uplands and part of the Indiana Uplands Viticulture Area, making it an apt location for our group.

Owen Valley Winery is a lovely farm and winery, including vineyards & a rustic bistro. Please no outside food or drink. Besides wine and hard cider, they have a complete lunch menu, including desserts & sodas. Regarding shade, there is a porch with tables that we are welcome to use, as well as some other shaded areas. Bathrooms are in the tasting room/bistro.

There are many ways to start your trip to the winery so you may want to check out Google maps to see your best route but check it out ahead of time as there is little to no cell service, so please print out directions and don’t depend on GPS. (they do have WIFI in the tasting room)

Continue straight onto IN 43N   7.1 miles
Left on Johnson Road   1.7 miles
Right on Braysville Road/ County Road 15E   .4 miles

From Ellettsville and points in Bloomington farther north
IN 46 to S. Sale Street – go past the library.
Continue west on S. Sale Str, it will change names to W. Reeves Rd, then Hardscrabble Rd, then Freeman Rd.  6.8 miles 
Turn left on Timber Ridge Road   2 miles

Join Gail Fairfield at Dina Stephens’ beautiful home: 3115 N Brummett's Creek Road

From College Mall, it's about a 20-minute drive

• Go east on 3rd street which turns into Highway 46

• Stay on 46 for about 5-6 miles

• Turn left onto Brummett's Creek Road and stay on it until the road turns left at a 90-degree angle

• Dina's house is 3 mailboxes down on the left but you can't see the house (you will see an Upland sign)

• The driveway goes downhill, rambles through a hard-bottom creek, and uphill to the second (and last) house that you can see

• Driveway ends at Dina's house

• NOTE: GPS might give you another route but/and Dina says her directions are the easiest!

If you're nervous about driving through the creek bed (which might have an inch or two of water in it but has a solid bottom), you can park before the creek bed and get a ride to Dina's house. If no one comes along, call me!

We will have access to a bathroom.

Bring your own insect repellent and, of course, art supplies!

Dina will join us as we paint!

Join Kitty Garlock at Leslie Daniels’ beautiful back yard at 310 E. Gilbert Dr Bloomington.  We have been to Leslie’s a couple of times before and everyone has loved it.  It is a small oasis on the north edge of town off Walnut just past the light at the bypass. It is the next right hand turn onto E. Gilbert…but whatever the case GPS will get you there no problem! It has a garden full of flowers (who knows what all this rain will do), a curving stone wall, big flagstone patio, a small bridge passing over a small pond to a small B&B, and a hostess who looks forward to meeting all of you!!
